New Year's Eve

Image
It's that time again! Time to write the best blog post of the whole year. You should go back and read last year's if you haven't, it was a lot of fun to write, and this one was too. Without further ado, your theme music: Or you can pick this one, also awesome: Here we go! January This year, January was mostly spent going to the first weeks of my last classes for my undergraduate, the most difficult being anatomy. I put together the puzzle from heck with my family (paint buckets. Who makes a puzzle of PAINT BUCKETS). Me and C continued to date, and even to talk marriage. Meanwhile in the singles ward, our church changed locations and since we had to stop meeting in the building with an elevator, we took one final culminating picture to stick with the bunches of others we took in that thing. February The Olympics started, and me and roommates had a good laugh about how woefully unprepared Sochi was. I continued to almost pass out in Anatomy lab, but finall

Christmas Eve Eve!

Image
It's my favorite holiday, guys! It's coming!!! :D And in honor of that, have some of my favorite Christmas songs. Since you already heard "Sleigh Ride" last time, I won't bother you with that again. But it is awesome. Let's see... Let's start out with a more upbeat, exciting Kelly Clarkson number: Definitely a fun one. Not super Christmassy, but not bad. If you know me, you know I love Michael Buble, so this next one shouldn't be much of a surprise: Another good one to check out if you've got time? Silver Bells. Melts me every single time.  And now, for my favorite band...   You're welcome. You're freaking welcome.  Those are the only ones in my head right now. I'll post another list if I can think of more favorites.  As far as other Christmas preparations are concerned, I've wrapped most of C's Christmas, and haven't hit anyone else's yet. And can I just tell you - the lines! They&

"Holidays Rule"

Do you ever just get up and think, "I hate everyone today" and it sets the tone for the whole rest of the day! That's me today, yay! Do not cross me. Believe me, it is in your best interest. What's new besides my random angst... Got a new office chair this week, and by new I mean already been sat on for like five million years but is new to the front desk. The girl behind me got a brand-new chair, where is the justice here? Instead of getting a new one, the head honcho of the office was like "actually I want a new one, you can have my old one" and I was like, am I supposed to thank her or not? Thanks for the used chair that you've been sitting on for the past decade? I mean, it probably hasn't been a decade, but still. It's the principle of the thing. I hate sitting where I know other people have sat for a long time. It inexplicably makes me uncomfortable. What else... I've been rocking the Indie Holidays station on Pandora because hello,

Well, I thought I would blog a lot more this week. The other secretary hasn't come in all week so I've been pulling double duty... well, kind of, I still have to stay under 28 hours >:( But besides that, I thought it'd be super boring, and for the most part it has, I just have had boring things to do that take up all my time. Between students being upset about having to pay tuition (side note: did you know that if you go to college you have to pay for it? WHATTTT???) and being upset because they didn't pay said tuition and all their classes dropped, it has been such a busy week of faking "I'm so sorry that happened to you... (not)" that I haven't had a ton of blogging time. Besides that, most of my spare time has been devoted to creating a massive spreadsheet about where C is going to apply for graduate school. But I like doing that, because it gets me excited for our future, one where we don't live in a crappy apartment in a college town, but o

Another Week Over

Image
Well, this week has been fun. And by fun I mean extremely boring and full of boringness. But I did make chocolate mint chip cookies yesterday so I can eat those all shift long and feel better about myself. Good thing they're good cookies. But at this point, I would eat anything. I didn't have time to eat anything this morning and I needed some serious Advil, and since it's not good to take Advil on an empty stomach, I bought a cheap granola bar, and boy, was that unsatisfying. Geez. If that's how my day is starting, it can't go anywhere but up. Last night it was a toss-up between me and C of whether we'd go to a women's basketball game or stay home and watch Peter Pan Live, and after he'd pulled up some program to randomly choose for us (nerdy husband alert) we stayed home for PPL. Boy, was that the most entertaining three hours of my life. Not necessarily because of the play itself (more interesting to me were the random bits in between commercials

It's December!

It's December AND it's Tuesday, home slices. What sucks about Tuesdays is that the office gets literally buckets of mail on Tuesdays. And since last week was a vacation? It's going to be like five times worse. Aaaaaaand as I was driving into work today my car wheel started making a weird noise, like the wheel well is coming off, which it is! Whee! At least the tire isn't coming off. Now that was a terrifying experience. Might as well tell it, before the massive mail bucket gets here. So me and M, our cars were like... connected somehow. When hers broke down, mine would too. It was awful. Whenever our breakdowns happened, we would go up into our apartment and blast Linkin Park until we felt better/our cars were fixed. That was the winter of alternator troubles, control arm fiascoes, and tire issues, which is what this particular anecdote is about. So one day, we're driving home from church. M's driving, I'm in the passenger seat, and L is in the backseat.

Post-Birthday Update

Image
One year older (and wiser too?) Who knows. According to the eye doctor (Mom bought me new contacts for my birthday!!!) I look 18, so that's cool. I actually don't mind looking young, it throws people off and makes me laugh. So yeah, new contacts! I love them! Being able to see is great, people. And one more year and I'm eligible for LASIK, which has been my dream ever since I first got glasses. Other stuff going on...Mockingjay was actually really good and really intense. If you've read the book, you know some... unexpected things happen and it gets intense fast. Plus, we snuck in cookies and cream popcorn to the theatre, best choice ever. (And yes, I do spell theatre the Olde English way...) C put up a photo wall for my present - it's was so cute! I'll have to put up a picture soon, but he hung up all these pictures and it's adorable. I got a new purse which I desperately needed, so excited to use it. Also got a new work cardigan, everyone knows those a

Mockingjay Day

Image
Well, as far as my birthday week is concerned (GG reference) it's been okay. Haven't done much. Went to a basketball game to humor C on Wednesday, saw P get a school award yesterday, and tonight S is taking me to see Mockingjay. I'm cautiously excited. I really hated the book so in theory, the movie can't go anywhere but up, right? Ugh. I hope so.  In "K is an idiot" news, this morning I dropped the plug for my half-working blow dryer on my foot. It stung a little but I just figured I was being a wimp, so I put on my toast socks and moccasin-esque shoes and went to work. The stinging just got worse and worse, so at work I took my sock off and lo and behold, I was bleeding to death. Well not to death, but enough to merit a Band Aid. Thank goodness for my travel-size first aid kit I keep in my backpack, even though it's totally knock-off. It saved my favorite pair of socks! Aren't they awesome??? My favorite pair of socks, by far. So that happ

A Slight Vent

Image
Ugh. It's Monday, everybody! I keep forgetting how much I hate them until they come around again. Today is no different, although it sucks even more than usual because it's FREEZING outside and my blow dryer is broken so my hair is always wet and... ugh. I just need to pony up and buy a new one, I suppose. The real reason I'm annoyed is because... I don't know how to describe it. *use your words, K...* Okay. I'm trying. I guess the main reason I'm annoyed is that people are such complainers (including myself, I'm not perfect, no way.) But my biggest annoyance are when people are like "my problem my problem my problem" on social media, but they don't understand that they brought it upon themselves. So you're poor. Big deal. Maybe if you didn't go on five million Disney trips you wouldn't be so poor. Just a thought. Ugh. It's like people complaining that they're fat and then eating an entire package of Oreos to console thems

Katelyn Watches TV

Image
Yes, I'm doing this. You can't stop me! Lately a lot of exciting things have happened in the TV world and I'm going to write about it! Haha! And also, work is el lameo today, meaning there's nothing going on. Aaaaaaaand it's snowing... But anyways, to the list! Gilmore Girls:  Yes, this show aired back in like 2005. But still! I'm at the part where Rory and Dean are starting to have conversations again and I'm like NOOOOOO!!! Was Jess a jerk? Yes. But to run back to Dean?!! Come on, Rory. You're better than that... In other news, Lorelei and Luke's relationship is starting to get all cute, woohoo! Selfie:  Well, the show that I love is seemingly cancelled :( I've been tweeting to try and get it back but I think it's gone for good, and right when it was starting to get good! This show has a lot of potential! I mean, what if someone had decided to quit Friends after like five episodes? Or heaven forbid, Gilmore Girls??? I think my favori

Friday Ramblings

Well here I am, sitting at work browsing the Internet while eating a PopTart. Already finished filing all the crap that got scanned yesterday, I hate that part. All the files are dusty and it gets all over me and by the time I'm done, I look like I just walked out of a dust storm or something. I mean, the purple socks... Come on.  ONLY the best song ever performed on Improvaganza. Actually, now that I think about it, this is ONE of the best songs ever performed on Improvaganza. The other one, is quite obviously... Wipe the Windows! Utter perfection. Well now that I'm going on an Improvaganza trip... Have some more gifs!  Yeah... the only ones I know that watched this show were my Centennial apartment friends, but whatever. I still watch it sometimes. Good stuff. Actually, when Wayne Brady came back on, there were some more good times. I'll have to go back and re-watch that one to find them but man. Colin Mochrie is still my favorite, af

Stories for C

Image
Well friends, I'm back in town again, woot. Took a weekend trip down to St. George with C to see another band competition but it's over now. No more band competitions for me! And while I was more prepared this time with a heavier jacket, it was still way colder than you'd expect St. George to be. Also, C got me a hot chocolate so that made it better. (Haha. See, C? I mentioned you!) What else has happened... P dressed up as a little Jedi for Halloween. She's been pestering my poor mom all month long to let her dress up as a Star Wars character, so I guess Mom gave in and P got to be a Jedi, complete with her own light saber (saber? sabre?) I have never actually seen Star Wars, but I guess this is a big deal. My phone's photo memory is full, which is annoying, so I couldn't take a picture. I'll try to find one somewhere and post it later. Today I'm doing the work of both me and the afternoon secretary, which isn't hard. I really think I could trai

Random Post (with Cute Animal Highlights!)

Image
Well, today has been extremely mediocre. Went to work, came home. Thought about going shopping, didn't. Thought about cooking something, made Minute rice instead and poured some Yoshida's on it. Not the greatest meal, but better than eating nothing, especially with my picky stomach. This time last year it was some of the worst it's ever been. I'm glad it's been getting better over time. Stomachs are weird organs. You think everything is fine, and then  - BAM! Eat something too salty, sour, or spicy? Your life is about to get a whole lot worse, my friend. For me, it's tomato sauces, salsas, Thai food, Indian food, and really greasy food, like burgers and fries. I love all these things. But they just aren't good for my poor stomach sometimes. And by sometimes I mean most of the time. And by most of the time I mean all of the time. Yep, just inserted a happy turtle, for no real reason, besides that he's adorable! What else h

Katelyn Goes to Another Football Game

So it's the end of another weekend, guys. I really hate Mondays. Actually, I rather dislike any day that I have to go to work. I'd rather just sit here and write on this blog all day and find Psych or GG memes and that would be awesome. Also, should I post a link to this blog on like... Facebook or something? I've enjoyed it just being private (read: thanks for reading, C and R) but perhaps it deserves a wider audience. Yes? No? Kind of? On to actual blogging material, I went to another football game with my grandpa. Boy, was that something. So first off, I'm trying to find him outside the stadium, which is of course a madhouse. It doesn't help that's when the band decided to march into the near vicinity, making it impossible to contact anyone even if you see them due to the massive amounts of raucous noise in the vicinity. So I'm wandering around, trying to find an old guy in a sea of old guys, when all of a sudden this secret cop car pulls up (

Fall Break

Image
Guess who's on fall break? Not me, that's who! Although I'm quite enjoying the silence of the student-deprived hallway outside, that's for sure. The few of us here are listening to music, shredding things we never have time/need to shred, or just sitting eating Goldfish and blogging (yours truly!) There is literally nothing to do. I'm to the point where I'm debating whether or not it would be worth it to alphabetize the mail. It's that bad. Although, we did get a Lego catalog in the mail today. Man. Legos are a lot more expensive if you get them in like a five-million piece set. Although I'm seriously tempted to save up for Metalbeard's boat, because look! If I do, I can build the double-decker couch! And that idea is just...the best. Right? Need. I'm not really obsessed with the Lego movie or anything, I just like building stuff. Last Christmas I spent the whole morning helping P build her Lego haunted castle thing. Good sisterly bonding t

Unsatisfactory Toast & A Halloween Decoration

Image
So a little backstory behind the title of this post - once upon a time, I lived in freshman dorm housing. I really should write about that on here, there were some dang good times. But anyway, at the cafeteria where we all ate there was this awesome bread called "Grandma Emilie's". It was awesome, it was multigrain, it was the best wheat bread I'd ever had. But guess what? When Hostess went under, it turns out it owned whoever made Grandma Emilie's bread. And I haven't been able to find it since :( Pathetic, I know. But I just tried a new wheat bread and made toast with it and I'm telling you, nothing lives up to Grandma Emilie's. Anyway, so after that pointless story, um... Yes. Well, Halloween is coming, and we are soooo good at decorating. Observe our decoration!  Yes, we have one decoration, which my little sister P made for us. It's a little paper ghost, which we've hung from our bunting. Isn't he festive?  ...

Blah Day

Image
Well friends, it's that time again, that time when I feel like doing absolutely nothing, but if I know that if I do nothing I'll hate myself, but if I do anything I'll hate myself for doing something the whole time I'm doing it.  Make sense? No? Great... How about I give you a summary of my last week? It could potentially be interesting! I'll give you a breakdown: One season of Gilmore Girls watched - (Season One. Side note: Dean? Get away, Dean. Nobody likes you. Go home. Get a haircut. Boo Christopher... Also, forgot how much I hated Paris, forgot how much I loved Michele. If that's how you spell his name, that is... Should I be tagging these with spoiler alerts? I forgot all about Chad Michael Murray in the first season too...  Can't wait until Jess shows up...  I mean, come on. Out of all of Rory's boyfriends, Jess is definitely the best. (He's the middle one, non-Gilmorians.) One doctor visited - Don't worry, it wasn't for
