K&C Attend a Baseball Game

Image
One of the first casual questions people ask when they get to meet you out here is "Cubs or Sox?" I can wholeheartedly say I am a Cubs fan, because of three reasons: The Cubs haven't been in a World Series since 1945, and you all know I'm a sucker for a losing squad. Dang my empathetic-ness. (Unless it comes to Utah, and then it's DIE LOSERS DIE) Wrigley Field is, in my opinion, way cooler. I mean, I've never been to the White Sox field. But Wrigley has ivy growing on the walls. That's awesome.  The color palette/branding of the Cubs is highly superior to the White Sox. I mean, look at this:  Option #1 Versus this:  Option #2 I mean, come on. One, or two. One... or two.  Anyway. So one of the things I wanted to before I left this crappy place we call home for the next year was make sure we hit a Cubs game. And a couple weeks ago, we did!  Wrigley Field Where the rich people sit Where we sat Cool, no? Prepare for pictu...

HC&M: Meh-ssionaries

Here we go... Also, more Suits gifs for your pleasure/displeasure. Happy -The end of season 2 of Suits was a little risque but thankfully we have moved onto season 3, which we also finished recently. And I guess I could say I knew Donna was going to date someone eventually, it was still unexpected when it came... And the backlash was great. And can I just say - how awesome was that Season 4 opener?! Of course, anything could be set to "Love Me Again" and I'd say it was awesome. Although - Why is Harvey still with dang Scottie? Why does she still go by Scottie? She's an adult woman with a huge important awesome job, and she goes by Scottie? To each their own, I guess...? -My cross stitch is almost done! It looks amazing. And I don't usually say that about my own work but this is fantastic. *Almost* as good as this year's snowflakes, I would say. I have also decided what I'm doing for all my pregnant friends' gifts and it's going to be a...

Game Day

Image
It's game day, people! If you're into BYU football, that is. My sport's gameday isn't all the way until January :( But at least I've had some good soccer games to watch recently. Let me break it down for you. K's Favorite BYU Sports (that I'll actually watch and stay interested and not complain very much during): 1. Men's Volleyball 2. Women's Soccer That's about it, really. "But what about football?!" you ask. "Don't you love watching the dudes toss the old pigskin around?" *sigh* Football is hard for me for the following reasons. Gameday intimidation faces 1. It's forever long. Why are you so long? It's a full-day affair! Got to watch the pre-pre-game, and the pre-game, and then of course the four-hour game, and then the post-game, and then the post-post-game, and ugh. It's a vicious circle of football. It never ends! I can handle about two hours of football, and that's if there's good s...

Pretend for the Weekend

Image
Outside, the night's as young as us Tonight, it's just the two of us Pretend, pretend for the weekend. (points if you know the song without Google.) It was a good weekend, people. A busy one, but for the most part a good one. It started with a late-night movie in the great outdoors. P doesn't like Cinderella because it's too girly so she enjoyed making this face at me the entire night (Side note: I guess you get what you pay for with an outdoor free movie, but what's with people clapping during movies? What is that about? Why is it a thing now?) Also, I made a  thing! Well, a couple things. These are the ones I could get pictures of. The cross-stitch is for my friend M's wedding, she's a big Dr. Who person and although I'm not really into it I figured she would enjoy it. The embroidery on the phone booth took a lot longer than I expected but it turned out awesome.  Then, I got this book on crocheting hats for cats at the librar...

K Makes Scones

Image
So, I made scones yesterday. They were awesome. They have strawberries and white chocolate and they are heavenly. Surprisingly, I have become a somewhat good baker! Ever since the great cookie debacle of a couple months ago, everything's been going pretty well since then in the kitchen department. Granted, these scones needed wayyyy more flour than was called for, but they ended up being awesome. Definitely a good way to use up strawberries. Now that I've bored you all with my wifey scone talents, we can talk about something more interesting. I'm just eating one of them right now and enjoying it immensely. Not much is new is going on with us. Mostly just school and work. April promises to be a fun month, as one of my best roommates ever is getting married and we get to go to the sealing! Yay! This is the best picture of us that was ever taken: She really likes cats. She isn't a cat, as this picture might imply, but she's still fantastic. In other news, I al...

K's Guide to the NCAA

Today, let's play a word association game. I'll say a word, and then what me and C think of when we hear that word. Ready? Word of the Day: Seed Me: C:  That's right, March "madness" is upon us, (and by "madness" I mean the utter annoyance that such a month of useless sports-playing exists.) The fact that this country glorifies and worships collegiate athletes sickens me. I was in some classes with some of these "student" athletes, and let me tell you, they are spoon-fed everything they have to know. Spoon-fed! Utterly spoon-fed! I was in anatomy with a girl who was an athlete and she had a private anatomy tutor, paid for by the university, that she met with twice a week. She hardly ever set foot in a lab! And of course she did better than me, because duh. What's the chances I could beat her when I'm stuck learning in a 200:1 ratio in lecture and 15:1 ratio in lab while she gets everything 1:1?! Absolutely none. Ridicul...

Katelyn Goes to Another Football Game

So it's the end of another weekend, guys. I really hate Mondays. Actually, I rather dislike any day that I have to go to work. I'd rather just sit here and write on this blog all day and find Psych or GG memes and that would be awesome. Also, should I post a link to this blog on like... Facebook or something? I've enjoyed it just being private (read: thanks for reading, C and R) but perhaps it deserves a wider audience. Yes? No? Kind of? On to actual blogging material, I went to another football game with my grandpa. Boy, was that something. So first off, I'm trying to find him outside the stadium, which is of course a madhouse. It doesn't help that's when the band decided to march into the near vicinity, making it impossible to contact anyone even if you see them due to the massive amounts of raucous noise in the vicinity. So I'm wandering around, trying to find an old guy in a sea of old guys, when all of a sudden this secret cop car pulls up (...

Guess who's car is broken again... MINE! *rolls eyes* As C kindly pointed out, it was exactly a year ago the poor thing broke down too. Apparently it and Harry Potter's birthday don't mix. Happy Birthday Harry, by the way. C thinks it's crazy, but whatever, man. I grew up with that guy. I still remember being so so so excited when I got Prisoner of Azkaban for my birthday, my very first HP book that was all mine! *HP nerdiness over*  Wait, just a little more. Haven't been on Pottermore in awhile, but I'm totally a Ravenclaw. Awwwwwwwwww yeah. Testify. Anyway, back to my life. So C had another game today. He even caught a touchdown pass, yay! And yes, I could tell it was a touchdown, for those who are wondering from the last post, haha. But his team still lost, unfortunately. Although the next team playing after him had two guys I used to caption for all the time when I worked sports captioning, so that was super weird. I felt like I should b...

PMGU #2: Support

Image
Here's another Post-Marriage General Update category (PMGU, if you didn't pick up on the acronym from the title, I'm lazy and didn't want to type it all out this time.) Today's topic: supporting your husband when he does weird things you don't understand. It happens. Today specifically, I'm talking about that weird thing guys do to make themselves feel tough, manly, and vaguely Bear Grylls-like... That's right, flag football. Flag football? Yeah, I get it. Just stay with me. Okay. So I've been to football games. Many football games. Want proof? Here! See! Proof! I'm at a football game! With M! And I'm smiling! (And no, I wasn't smiling because we'd just gotten Costa Vida...) So yes. Football. I get the general gist of the game. Offense, defense, touchdowns, rah-rah-rah, annoying cheerleaders, over-pampered student athletes running around with a ball, big fat Polynesian guys on defense mowing people over, trying to get the...

2013 In Review

Image
Seeing as it's the last day of 2013, I figured I would reflect back on my year, and unfortunately, as my readers, you are forced along on the journey with me. Ha ha ha! So we start with... January January was pretty fun. I retook the first half of OChem (which sucked like every other time I've ever mentioned OChem), hung out with the awesome half of my apartment (remember back when I lived with the crappiest people in the world??? SO glad that's over...), saw all the guys from Kid History in person, and played a lot of Just Dance. Me and my roommates like drawing comics...Yeah. February February was a rough one (read: boys suck). I was again grateful for my good roommates and friends. I don't know all that much about what happened in February...A lot of studying at the kitchen table, eating microwave popcorn and Pringles. Ooh, and those red cinnamon gummy hearts they sell at Macey's during the Valentine's Day season. Dang, those are good. Let's s...
