HC&M: Meh-ssionaries
Here we go... Also, more Suits gifs for your pleasure/displeasure.
Happy
-The end of season 2 of Suits was a little risque but thankfully we have moved onto season 3, which we also finished recently. And I guess I could say I knew Donna was going to date someone eventually, it was still unexpected when it came... And the backlash was great. And can I just say - how awesome was that Season 4 opener?! Of course, anything could be set to "Love Me Again" and I'd say it was awesome. Although - Why is Harvey still with dang Scottie? Why does she still go by Scottie? She's an adult woman with a huge important awesome job, and she goes by Scottie? To each their own, I guess...?
-My cross stitch is almost done! It looks amazing. And I don't usually say that about my own work but this is fantastic. *Almost* as good as this year's snowflakes, I would say. I have also decided what I'm doing for all my pregnant friends' gifts and it's going to be awesome. Well, hopefully. I haven't attempted the project yet so hopefully it will actually be awesome when it's all said and done.
-P's play was last week, and all my sources say she did pretty well :) Can't wait to watch the DVD.
-Me and C did date night at a live sing of the Messiah with MoTab last Friday night. We didn't get home until midnight but it was totally worth it. Ever sang the Messiah before? Do it. I freaking rocked that alto part. I estimate I hit about 65% of the notes. Basically I'm a champion.
-It was R's birthday last Saturday!!! My beautiful lookalike sister! And she's going to college in the fall, where she will do amazing because with R, you can expect nothing less.
-Easter was actually kind of nice. The couple we think is one of the coolest invited us over with another family and it was really nice to not be alone. They made a traditional Easter dinner and it was nice to get to know them better. She also sent me an invitation to her baby shower, so I reeeeeally need to get those gifts going...
-General Conference is tomorrow, people!!! That means homemade cinnamon rolls :)
-The missionaries are coming over for dinner tonight. The bishop got up and made a big announcement at the beginning of sacrament meeting about how nobody was feeding the missionaries and we should all feel badly. Or something like that. That's what I got out of it anyway. But I have a reason we haven't signed up for awhile! See, I play the piano in Relief Society, and by the time I've finished playing the opening song it's already passed me. And apparently this ward is sexist and only passes it around RS, but they ended up passing it around EQ last Sunday and C signed up since no one had signed up to feed them the whole week :( And he says he was one of the last to get the signup, so that means it went through the whole ward with people signing up and they were still going to have nobody feed them this week. Poor guys. Also, we have an awkward trio of missionaries now, instead of two sets of two. So I'm not sure how well this will go over. Also, we only have four chairs. So...
Crappy
-C went back to school this week :( Which is cool, and yay for it, but he sure doesn't get much of a break. I guess they figure you can take breaks when you're done.
-It's rainy and cold here. It felt more like spring *before* spring actually officially came. And I know I have no room to complain because Utah got dumped with snow but it's crappy regardless. Where are the tulips and daffodils? I hope people grow them out here. We're on thunderstorm watch today so hopefully I get home before all heck breaks loose out there.
-I tried making ginger molasses cookies last week and in my opinion, they taste terrible. C really likes them so at least they don't go to waste, but I can't stand them. I don't know what it is. Something about that molasses taste is just not enjoyable to me. We're in a crappy streak in our kitchen with trying new recipes for some reason. Guess we'd better find some new better ones.
Meh
-The college is quieter now. I'm betting like a fifth of the students went on spring break and just decided not to come back. Ha.
-March Madness (Or March Mehness, if you're me) is still going. At my old school, people had brackets up everywhere and were always talking about it, but here it's like no one cares. Which is fine, but kind of weird. Everyone's really into hockey out here. But I did learn that when C brought me back an ugly shirt from Chicago back when we were engaged, he brought me back an official Blackhawks shirt. I mean, it's still ugly, but I can wear it and look like I'm fitting in at this place. Point K.
-I just turned on a "Today's Hits" playlist on Spotify and I recognize like - three songs on a list of 50. When did I become so old and lame?
-I got a call from our panicked ward music person last Friday night telling me that the judgmental old guy who plays the organ for Sunday, the piano for Primary, and used to be the choir pianist was in the hospital, so could I please play the piano for Sunday? And also for Primary? Oh, and can you play the piano for the ward choir number (which I was already doing) and also for the Primary musical number? For a song you haven't played in like five years? I was nervous but she didn't have anyone else who said yes, so I did it. I was pretty nervous about it all, but more about the Primary song than anything else. Fortunately everything went off pretty smoothly. And it was really nice to actually have prelude music for once. The usual guy shows up like three minutes before and plays a song and that's it. I mean, I hope he's okay and he gets out of the hospital fine, but if he could stop correcting me during choir practice that'd be great.
Happy General Conference weekend!
