It's December!

It's December AND it's Tuesday, home slices. What sucks about Tuesdays is that the office gets literally buckets of mail on Tuesdays. And since last week was a vacation? It's going to be like five times worse. Aaaaaaand as I was driving into work today my car wheel started making a weird noise, like the wheel well is coming off, which it is! Whee! At least the tire isn't coming off. Now that was a terrifying experience. Might as well tell it, before the massive mail bucket gets here. So me and M, our cars were like... connected somehow. When hers broke down, mine would too. It was awful. Whenever our breakdowns happened, we would go up into our apartment and blast Linkin Park until we felt better/our cars were fixed. That was the winter of alternator troubles, control arm fiascoes, and tire issues, which is what this particular anecdote is about. So one day, we're driving home from church. M's driving, I'm in the passenger seat, and L is in the backseat....

Post-Marriage General Update #1: Adjustments

Image
Hey everyone! I, KM, is now KMO! I mean, it's not like on my driver's license or anything, but we have a marriage license that proves it and everything! It's unreal.... When you get married, everything changes, and yet nothing changes at the same time. I just live with my best friend now, instead of with four of my good friends, and I won't lie, it gets a little lonely sometimes. C has a full-time job with a moving company so he's gone most of the day, and I'm currently looking for a job. It's hard to be alone all day. I never thought I'd miss having a job but I miss the social interactions. Oh, and a reason to wear real pants. I swear, I live in basketball shorts these days, and it doesn't help that C owns about ten pairs of them, so I never run out of them. It's reached a bad point. My mom commented the other day to C that "you have to be careful that K doesn't let herself go... I haven't seen her in real pants in a few weeks......

Concussions and Mr. Chicken

Image
Well, my roommate went and concussed herself again. *sigh* Somehow she always manages to hit her head on the most random of things at the most random of times, and ends up injuring herself. This time she actually went to the doctor's and got checked out and everything, so that's good. What does that mean for me? Lots of movies and listening to odd ramblings about random things. So it could be worse. When she got her wisdom teeth out and was on all sorts of painkillers she kept talking about The Ghost and Mr. Chicken...which is apparently a movie? Back then I had no idea what the heck it was, so I just kept saying "It's not here..." and she'd get all upset about it and then ask again like half an hour later. It was stressful. Thank goodness our home teachers brought us over some Jambas or I would've given up then and there. Still haven't seen this...Still don't want to. What else...typed out a soccer game last night, wrists still hurt so this...

Biopsies & Busted Cars

Image
Well friends, it's been awhile, and thanks to the "gentle proddings" of R, I have decided to update yet again.  What's up. What's new with me, you ask? Well, a few things. Media Day went really well. Got to see my favorite football coach EVER like 20 feet away from me talking to all his old quarterbacks before recording a live broadcast. Probably one of the top 20 moments of my life. He is really funny. You wouldn't think it from his demeanor on the field, but he's got quite the sense of humor. Media Day and Dress up Tuesday were fun because bosslady was gone, so we got to hang out and be chill. I got to talk to some of my cool coworkers for awhile without getting dirty looks shot at me or "work, please" thrown in my face. Awwwwwwwwww yeah.  "This is me...Hugging you...Over the airwaves...mmmmmm..MMMMMM...mmmmm" +10 points if you you can tell me this episode! Anyway. So work was more chill, but she came back on Th...

Cupcakes

GRE Question of the Day: Choose the word that is most opposite of the bold word. Perfidy A. fidelity B. diffidence C. confusion D. affidavit E. infidel And the answer is...A! Yeah, I didn't know that one either. Zero for two, guys. Maybe tomorrow's question will be easier. May the odds be ever in your favor. Sheez, may the odds be ever in MY favor. Today was fun. I helped make a bunch of cupcakes (read: I tasted the frosting and said it was good, and also sprinkled sprinkles). But man, I have edible glitter all over my pants now. I look like a denim disco ball. But it'll be worth it! Tomorrow's Thirsty Thursday (read: another time for pathetic singles of the ward to gather and awkwardly flirt at each other), and it's being hosted at our apartment. But it's okay, because we're going to class it up with our glittery cupcakes and tarts. No one else will be able to compete with our Thirsty Thursday. Not that I'll know, because I don't usuall...

Tuesday Night Musings

Image
Well, I went back to work today. Woot! It wasn't terrible, really. Got to do some live captioning, which was nice. Don't want to get out of practice! Like that would ever happen... Boss lady told me to teach new girl to live caption, so I did my best. I'm really not the "show you how to do it" type. I had to learn by experimentation, so she should too, right? Gosh, I'm mean. In other news...I signed up for the GRE last weekend! And the more I prepare, the more worried I get. I thought I had a pretty extensive vocabulary. Ha! Ha! Ha! Want to look at an example question? Here you go. Choose the word with the most opposite meaning of the bold word. Recondite A. Abstruse B. Erudite C. Understandable D. Obtuse E. Seismic Give up? The answer is C. Don't ask me... The face I made while grading my practice test I thought I was smart. The GRE is going to prove me wrong, I just know it. But it's okay, with a lot of vocabulary study and som...

A Roommate Update

Image
Some of you have been asking for a roommate update. Well, all my annoying roommates moved out (Can I get a HALLELUJAH?!?!!) The apartment is clean. ALL the time. And when I say all, I mean all. Our sink is always empty. Our counters are clean. Our table is clean. Everything is clean! It's amazing. If any of you have come over back when I used to vent about my roommates all the time, you should come over now. It looks really good. It's too bad I'm working a lot these days and am hardly ever home, but the few hours I am are nice. Other random/useless updates...I really like vanilla Greek yogurt with granola. I eat it all the time. I was introduced to it by my ex-roommate, (who I miss more than I ever thought possible) and I really like it now. I also made my famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies last week, and they were so good! I only make them like once a semester and when my roommate was going to leave she asked if I'd make her some for her journey back to her family...

Finals (AKA Useless Ramblings)

Image
Well, it's finals week. All of my finals were scheduled within a 24-hour period (worst idea ever, especially having two at 7 am in a row...Who does that?! I can do one in a row, easy. But for some reason, two in a row is way harder than you'd think...) Anyway. So yes. 24 hours later and all my finals are done. I have one more final project to work on, but it's for my annoying Editing class and I'm just at the point where I don't care anymore. I'll make the changes she told me to make, and then I'll be done. That was probably the most annoying class I've ever taken. Haha, thank goodness for teacher evaluations. >:) It was raining when I went to my final at 7 am today, which I liked. I had gotten up late (6:45??!!! How did that EVEN happen?!?!?!?!) and I was extremely stressed, because I hate being late, and it meant I couldn't review for my final before like I had planned :( So I ended up throwing on my favorite T-shirt and brushing my teeth an...

Sorry Guys...

Image
...I know it's been awhile. School's been kicking my butt this semester and I've had a lot going on, between school and work and roommates and a certain guy I've been spending a lot of time with ;) I just haven't had  a lot of time to write, and at the same time make it interesting. But hey, that's college.  It's President's Day, which means I get the day off (Yay!) but means I should be catching up on all the stuff I'm behind on (lame). This is also the last day off I get until the end of the semester (BYU doesn't get spring break, unfortunately). I hate winter semester for that very reason. I tend to get burned out around the beginning of March and we still have a bunch left to go. Just thinking about it makes me stressed. Oh well. What else... Me and my roommates have been getting along better, especially the one that I vented about a few months back. Sometimes I go back and think about how ridiculously annoyed I got, and it makes me la...

WARNING: VENTING AHEAD!!!!

Image
You have been sufficiently warned. If you're looking for something that will bring a gentle smile to your face, like a bunch of kittens or something, I've got a website for you. Google Images. If you're here to read about my ANNOYING roommate, read on, friends. You ready for this? Okay. First of all, you should know that I will do almost anything to avoid contention with roommates. I've found that if you pick your battles extremely selectively (like for me, when it comes to the A/C), you get a lot farther than crying about everything. True story. So I complain a lot when I get in mediums like this because I know they're never going to read/never care to read/never even think that I would have a blog. I'm just going to make a bullet list of problems, if it's all the same to you. Shake up the format, and all. Chronologically through the day, if possible.  First thing in the morning. Truth is, I don't really like talking to people in the morning, but...

This One's for You!

Image
Well, faithful readers, here's where I actually talk about my life instead of post random pictures of things I like. If that's your cup of tea then...go on Tumblr or something. Ahem. I've moved to a new apartment complex where I know absolutely no one, and so far it's been pretty fun. I've made good friends with a few of my roommates, and I get along well with all the rest so it's been fun. I have one from Russia, which has been fun. It's forced me to have a different kind of humor, since my usual sarcasm can be confusing to her. It's definitely been weird, but I'm getting used to it. One problem though, my roommates keep turning off the A/C, but if you know me, you know I like to be cold. If I feel crappy because it's too hot, you don't want to be anywhere near me. True story. So anyways, I'm forced to secretly turn on the air conditioning when people aren't in the room/aren't home. I feel kind of a like a secret agent or a s...

Fun at Work...Not-so-fun at home...

Image
Readers! How's it going! Sorry it's been awhile, just been working a lot and enjoying my summer. Speaking of working, it was a good week of random facts. Did you know Kool-Aid was invented in 1926? Yeah, that stuff is WAY older than I expected. Does it even have an expiration date? I mean, if you found one from the 1920s, would it still work? The idea of that really grosses me out, actually. Oh, and it was also a week of fixing heinous typos. My favorite? Having to fix someone's misspell of "Paul Bunyan" as "Paul Bunion". Seriously, coworkers? Paul Bunion? Makes him sound more like a geriatric gimp than an ax-wielding giant. But hey, whatever man.  Hm. Other things that aren't about work...Well, one of my new favorite shows is Leverage (I'm still only on the first season, but it's way good). TNT, people. Seriously in love with this show right now. What else...Well, since all of my other roommates are dating someone rig...

The Dish Fairy

Sometimes I get annoyed. It doesn't take a lot to annoy me, but it takes a lot to get me to tell you about it. I'm kind of a roll-with-the-punches kind of girl. But let me tell you, I'm getting really close to throwing out some punches with the current dish situation. Yes, the dish situation. Didn't you just feel a tingle of dread run down your spine? I know I did. Here's the thing. I think my roommates think there's a dish fairy that magically comes and does the dishes and leaves them all sparkling clean so they can have clean pots for their Pasta Roni and clean bowls for their Special K. I am not kidding. I swear. It's like when there's no dishes because I don't have time and I'm sick of doing them all week, they're like, "What? We have no bowls!!!", and I'm like "no DUH". And then when they do do the dishes (once every month or so), they're like "I did the dishes! Now we have clean ones!" like they...
