Derpy the Fish

Happy Saturday, people! Usually I feel like the weeks just crawl along. And this one has, for sure. But I think it's crawled a little faster than usual. Yay! Everyone be proud of us. We also tried to be social last week, we really did. A couple invited us over to make potstickers with them, and it was on Friday night, which is hard for us (C's got L&F meetings until later) but we were like you know what, we'll make it work. So C got off his train on a different stop that was closer to the house the party was in, and so I had to find it. My GPS said I'd gotten there, only I was staring at a car wash and a row of crappy apartment buildings, with a train station nowhere in sight. So I got to do my favorite thing, which is driving around trying to find something. I hate driving in Chicago. It's crap. But I eventually found C at a random Walgreens, and then we made our way to the potsticker party... We were an hour late, but I had warned them ahead of time. So I...

Guess What, He's Still Nameless

Image
Here's your two-week update! He's still nameless, although my little sister P says he should be called "Puffy the Girl Slayer". I'm not sure about that one. She did say we could call him "Puff G. Slay" so, there's that. He responded well to that, although even though he'll swim up to the front of the tank no matter what when I come talk to him, so I could probably call him BabyFish for the rest of his life and he wouldn't care at all. Yay. What else, you ask? I know it's been awhile. I got pretty sick this week and am just now starting to feel better. Kudos to C for keeping me and the apartment in one piece. Lots of Gilmore Girls has been consumed this week. and oh my gosh. I love that new people are being added to the cast! Minus Christopher, Dean, and April Nardini. I just... dislike all of them. Ugh. They have no place in the reboot! Go away, people! I also got really into this Netflix reality show called "Sing it On", wh...

Nameless Baby Fish

Image
So baby fish is still nameless. Nothing feels right. I know, it's just a fish. But fish have a right to names that fit them, right? The closest we've gotten to a name that fits is Benny Goodman, because his music was pretty awesome. And also because of this song: I just discovered Saint Motel and I really like their sound. (If you're looking for another good one check out My Type.) So anyway, one time I was listening to this song and Baby Fish was getting all excited, like he does whenever he sees anything or anyone walks by or whatever, and I thought hey - Benny. It kind of works.  But, one day he'll be a big adult fish and then will Benny fit? I don't know. It's like the parents that name their kids cute little pet names when they're little, and then they grow up and have to introduce themselves as Timmy or Scooter. No bueno. GILMORE GIRLS REBOOT IS OFFICIAL!!! I can't even contain my excitement. And I've only known about GG for like three...

Bye, Jeffrey

Image
The only thing I can say about my relationship with Jeffrey is - wow, that escalated quickly. From his first night home, to his home shattering around him, to his illness, things have gone from bad to worse, and by worse I mean Jeffrey is now in the great fishtank in the sky :( I suppose I did a lot to make his last days on Earth happy ones - all the food he wanted, (even if I never saw him eat it), a cute little tank all to himself, his own plant... It's like I'm running a rest home for fish. Jeffrey was fun while he lasted, I guess. Anyone got happier news to share? Anyone...? (YES I KNOW IT'S JUST A FISH BUT I LOVED HIM OKAY) I'm in kind of a meh mood. A new pregnant couple that just moved into the ward gave talks on Sunday that were full of praise for the ward. I mean, they even said "I think that Midwesterners are the real salt of the earth." What the heck. What does that even mean? And then they were like "Since we've moved in, we've...
