Back to Real Life

Image
So now that all my trip posts are done, it's back to actually writing for this thing on a regular basis. The break has been nice but a lot has happened. Here's a list! Books read: 1.5 -  The Fault in Our Stars  and I'm almost done with Where'd You Go, Bernadette? I've really been liking Bernadette , it's been intriguing and hard to put down from start to finish. Definitely recommend, especially if you like books that aren't written in the "traditional" sense. This book is kind of a scrapbook of dialogue, emails, memos, letters, etc, but Maria Semple actually pulls it off. Usually those books annoy me, but this one doesn't. I'm hooked. And I'm actually at the part of the book where we're all like yeah! Where did you go, Bernadette??? But seriously, where? We're all wondering here. Also, is this not the coolest book cover ever? I don't know. It's just awesome. Thanks for the pic, GoodReads...  On the other hand,...

K Makes Scones

Image
So, I made scones yesterday. They were awesome. They have strawberries and white chocolate and they are heavenly. Surprisingly, I have become a somewhat good baker! Ever since the great cookie debacle of a couple months ago, everything's been going pretty well since then in the kitchen department. Granted, these scones needed wayyyy more flour than was called for, but they ended up being awesome. Definitely a good way to use up strawberries. Now that I've bored you all with my wifey scone talents, we can talk about something more interesting. I'm just eating one of them right now and enjoying it immensely. Not much is new is going on with us. Mostly just school and work. April promises to be a fun month, as one of my best roommates ever is getting married and we get to go to the sealing! Yay! This is the best picture of us that was ever taken: She really likes cats. She isn't a cat, as this picture might imply, but she's still fantastic. In other news, I al...

I Swear On This Dead Crow that I Will Never Cook For You

Image
Well friends, it's a Thursday and I have to be at work, so I look like this whenever people approach my desk: What do you want? Why are you here? Can I go home yet? And I also say things like this: But other than that, it's fine... In other news, I just finished season 6 of this glorious show, which means the end is nigh. I really need to slow down my P&R intake... That makes five whole seasons watched in like three weeks. Which really isn't too bad, considering how fast I went through GG. Now the question is, how do we get the last season? It's not on Netflix! NOOOOOOOO!!! I NEED MORE APRIL AND RON SWANSON. Ahem. Well, me and W are going to go see Jupiter Ascending today if all goes well, so that should be terrible. I mean, it just sounded terrible from the get-go but that's okay, I always root for the underdog. No, really. Ask C. I start to feel bad if we're at a volleyball game and we win in three sets to none. I don't know why. ...

"Holidays Rule"

Image
Do you ever just get up and think, "I hate everyone today" and it sets the tone for the whole rest of the day! That's me today, yay! Do not cross me. Believe me, it is in your best interest. What's new besides my random angst... Got a new office chair this week, and by new I mean already been sat on for like five million years but is new to the front desk. The girl behind me got a brand-new chair, where is the justice here? Instead of getting a new one, the head honcho of the office was like "actually I want a new one, you can have my old one" and I was like, am I supposed to thank her or not? Thanks for the used chair that you've been sitting on for the past decade? I mean, it probably hasn't been a decade, but still. It's the principle of the thing. I hate sitting where I know other people have sat for a long time. It inexplicably makes me uncomfortable. What else... I've been rocking the Indie Holidays station on Pandora because hello,...

Unsatisfactory Toast & A Halloween Decoration

Image
So a little backstory behind the title of this post - once upon a time, I lived in freshman dorm housing. I really should write about that on here, there were some dang good times. But anyway, at the cafeteria where we all ate there was this awesome bread called "Grandma Emilie's". It was awesome, it was multigrain, it was the best wheat bread I'd ever had. But guess what? When Hostess went under, it turns out it owned whoever made Grandma Emilie's bread. And I haven't been able to find it since :( Pathetic, I know. But I just tried a new wheat bread and made toast with it and I'm telling you, nothing lives up to Grandma Emilie's. Anyway, so after that pointless story, um... Yes. Well, Halloween is coming, and we are soooo good at decorating. Observe our decoration!  Yes, we have one decoration, which my little sister P made for us. It's a little paper ghost, which we've hung from our bunting. Isn't he festive?  ... ...
