HC&M: It's Raining Meh-n

It's not actually raining men, just raining meh. Actually, it's just raining, sometimes. Every day last week, actually.

Happy
-It was THIS amazing, Star Wars-loving, soccer/softball/basketball playing, animal expert, butterfly-bush-playing girl's birthday last week! She's becoming the most beautiful young woman :) Not that you can tell from this picture... Just take my word for it.

-It's April, guys! March seems to go on forever for me, and this year was no different. April is such a hopeful month! (And also the worst character on Gilmore Girls. FACT.)
-Me & B watched Sing It On together for the last like week or so and it was awesome. I don't need a reason to watch that show. But it was nice to have one. :)
-I started doing my baby booties, and while I've made a TON of mistakes and this bootie will probably not ever be given away to anyone, I understand the process now and I think my next one will be really really cute. I love the pattern and how it's turned out so far (minus my five thousand mistakes.)
-Wasn't Conference amazing??? Along with everyone else ever on the face of the planet, I loved Elder Holland's talk. I got *chills* when he said, "If we give our heart to God, if we love the Lord Jesus Christ, if we do the best we can to live the gospel, then tomorrow - and every other day - is ultimately going to be magnificent, even if we don't always recognize it as such. Why? Because our Heavenly Father wants it to be! He wants to bless us. a rewarding, abundant, and eternal life is the very object of his merciful plan for His children! It is a plan predicated on the truth "that all things work together for good to them that love God." So keep loving. Keep trying. Keep trusting. Keep believing. Keep growing. Heaven is cheering you on today, tomorrow, and forever." I mean, it's no secret that I don't like it here, that I don't like my job, that I don't like the area. But this talk gave me the impetus to keep going this week. If I have to read this talk every Sunday night before another week of crappy mediocrity at work, so be it.
-We had the missionaries over last-minute Sunday night, and thankfully our meal turned out really well! We made something my mom makes really well that we had never tried before, and it turned out awesome. It was funny because they were passing the sign-up binder around for missionary meals and C saw that no one had signed up for Sunday and he was like "K! Sign up!!!" so we did, and then later he told me that being a missionary with nowhere to go on a Sunday was one of the hardest things for him during his mission, and so he always likes to help the guys out on Sunday. Thankfully we had enough food :) I'm just sad we don't have sister missionaries right now. I like them more. (No offense, past, present, and future elders...)
-In good Netflix news, Grease Live is on there! I'm not a huge Grease fan, but this adaptation is reeeeeally good. I feel like Fox does the whole live musical bit a lot better than NBC does. And Vanessa Hudgens is a perfect Rizzo.
-Anyone else think this article is hilarious? Because I do. #cephalopodpower
-I'm currently watching Once I Was a Beehive, which just got on Netflix too, so I'll keep you posted on how that ones goes. I'm hoping for a Singles Ward vibe, except about Girls' Camp. It's hard to explain the magic of Girl's Camp unless you've actually been, so we'll see how this movie does. We're 10 minutes in and I already recognize the cemetery that her dad is buried in (spoiler alert???) And can I just say how much I identify with the tiny blonde Phoebe already?! Except if I were to get a comfort animal, I would not choose a dog. Perhaps an apathetic cat. Grumpy Cat. Grumpy Cat could be my comfort animal.

"Comfort animals... I hate them."
Crappy
-Work is crap, as always. (Except it's more crap, because the time to RSVP has passed, and of course all sorts of dumb people are coming out of the woodwork wanting an exception because they're special snowflakes. Ugh.)

Meh
-Me and C tried another revered Chicago deep dish pizza place last week, Gino's East. It was definitely fun to get out of the apartment and go out. We don't go out to eat very often so when we do it's a special treat :) In the end, we deliberated long and hard, and decided we still like Lou's better. Next up: Giordano's and Pequod's.
-Apparently it's a given that every year, the college I work for closes down for a couple days for flooding in the spring. Not because it floods the actual campus, but the roads that go into campus flood and it's "not safe to drive in". Hey, you don't have to tell me twice. Bring on the flooding! I haven't had a day off since... February? Whenever the last federal holiday was.

Until next time friends,

K
