HC&M: Hu-meh-dity

Image
Well friends, here we are, over two weeks later again. I'm really losing steam with this blogging thing. Chicago's been in a heat wave recently, so I spent all of yesterday sitting in front of our window AC and cursing the heat/humidity. It's awful. I am counting the days until Christmas. But then again, that's nothing new. Happy -Remember how in the last post we went to a Sox game? Well, C filled out the survey they sent after, and they gave us some free tickets! Sadly, they're the same night of the Opening Ceremonies in Rio. We'll have to watch them afterwards, I guess. But our game will have fireworks, so that will be fun. -C is an official intern for City of Chicago! Well, he will be as soon as his fingerprint and background check come back clean. We spent a few hours at the outlet mall last week getting him some more nice collared shirts and ties for him to wear. He'll be working on some really cool projects, with real-world data! This will be a gre...

K, C, and another K Attend a White Sox Game

Image
Well, as promised, we attended a White Sox game on the 4th of July at Cellular Field. We didn't take as many pictures this time, but it was still fun. Baseball in person is MUCH better than baseball on TV. Also, C has taken to printing out the game notes for me before each game we go to, and then asks me to tell him random facts and stats throughout the game, which makes it much more fun for me. It makes me feel like I have more of a purpose during the game, as opposed to sitting and doing nothing. Plus, you can use the margins for doodling! At least, I do. Happy Things: 1. Usually it's just me and C at games. This time, we had C's friend K with us, which was fun. He bought bacon on a stick and let us try some. It was great! I also got popcorn (obviously.) 2. The people selling stuff in the stands sell a bigger variety of stuff than they do at Wrigley. The only thing you can get in the stands at Wrigley are hot dogs and beer, but at the Cell you can get popcorn, co...

Music & JAMN

Image
Anyone else just having a bleh day today? I think mine stems from the fact that the Fourth is coming up, and that's usually such a fun holiday in Utah. I miss living so close to the Stadium of Fire (although with Tim McGraw headlining this year, I'm not as sad. Haha. My hatred for country music is still strong as ever!) Oh, you want to know what I'm jamming to now, you ask? Well, it has been awhile since a music post... What K is Listening To Now First off, these all come straight off my Spotify "You Can Do It!!!" playlist. I play it whenever I'm driving to work, because I need a ton of motivation to walk into work sometimes. 1. Left Hand Free, alt+J Well, my left hand's free... I just want to say, first off, that I totally knew this song/loved this song/listened to this song WAY before Civil War came out. #hipster First it hit my Pandora, then it hit a Suits episode. Ah. Suits. Coming back soon! 2. Lean On, Major Lazer  Blow a ki...

K Returns to Her Native Land

Image
That's right, I was in Utah (AKA The Promised Land) about a month ago for a few days. One of my sisters graduated from high school, one got her endowments out, and one got a prestigious award, given to only four students in the sixth grade. So, basically, my family is awesome and I am obviously the weak link in the awesome chain...except that I have a BLOG so clearly I am also awesome. And I apologize to all the people I left hanging since the Cubs post. (Since that time, I have learned that the majority of my coworkers are White Sox fans. I'm not sure why. I guess because tickets are cheaper..? Apparently we're going to a White Sox game sometime in early July so I'll keep everyone posted.) Regardless, it's been awhile, so I made sure this post had tons of pictures to make up for it. Important Things that Happened: 1. R's Graduation She's in the first three rows, somewhere... R graduated like the champion she is, with all sorts of cords and meda...

K&C Attend a Baseball Game

Image
One of the first casual questions people ask when they get to meet you out here is "Cubs or Sox?" I can wholeheartedly say I am a Cubs fan, because of three reasons: The Cubs haven't been in a World Series since 1945, and you all know I'm a sucker for a losing squad. Dang my empathetic-ness. (Unless it comes to Utah, and then it's DIE LOSERS DIE) Wrigley Field is, in my opinion, way cooler. I mean, I've never been to the White Sox field. But Wrigley has ivy growing on the walls. That's awesome.  The color palette/branding of the Cubs is highly superior to the White Sox. I mean, look at this:  Option #1 Versus this:  Option #2 I mean, come on. One, or two. One... or two.  Anyway. So one of the things I wanted to before I left this crappy place we call home for the next year was make sure we hit a Cubs game. And a couple weeks ago, we did!  Wrigley Field Where the rich people sit Where we sat Cool, no? Prepare for pictu...

HC&M: It's Gonna Be Meh

Image
Happy: -Me & C got to go to a Cubs game last week! Pro: We saved money by going earlier in the season. Con: It was a little chilly and a lot windy. But it was still fun! I mean, I've been to a BYU game. I've been to an Owlz game. I've been to a Bees game. But a Cubs game? Blows them ALL out of the water as far as legit baseball-ness. Post with lots of pictures coming later this week! -The big work event/luncheon is OVER!!!!! Of course, that doesn't stop people from complaining about all the things that "weren't right", but whatever. Get a hobby, people. Although the dean of my whole division (my boss's boss) came by and gave me an absolutely gorgeous bouquet of Gerber daisies as a thank-you. I've never seen a bouquet of daisies this perfect. They're beautiful! -Those baby booties? They actually turned out pretty dang cute. They were the only homemade things at the baby shower I went to. Which isn't necessarily a good thing, but the ...

HC&M: It's Raining Meh-n

Image
It's not actually raining men, just raining meh. Actually, it's just raining, sometimes. Every day last week, actually. Happy -It was THIS amazing, Star Wars-loving, soccer/softball/basketball playing, animal expert, butterfly-bush-playing girl's birthday last week! She's becoming the most beautiful young woman :) Not that you can tell from this picture... Just take my word for it. -It's April, guys! March seems to go on forever for me, and this year was no different. April is such a hopeful month! (And also the worst character on Gilmore Girls. FACT.) -Me & B watched Sing It On together for the last like week or so and it was awesome. I don't need a reason to watch that show. But it was nice to have one. :) -I started doing my baby booties, and while I've made a TON of mistakes and this bootie will probably not ever be given away to anyone, I understand the process now and I think my next one will be really really cute. I love the pattern...
