Katelyn's Happy Thought

Sometimes when I'm teaching piano, I feel like I'm not really making a difference here. It's a fact that as soon as kid's start growing up and deciding they don't want to take piano, like most of them eventually will, they'll move on and I'll be nothing more than a "I used to..." story. But this week, one of my kids told me, "Katelyn, I like coming to piano. Piano is fun!" It was then that I realized that even though some of these kids may quit and never think of me again, I still made a difference in their lives right now .  And if I can get these kids to find something they love about music, then I've done what I set out to do. I love my piano kids!

The Dish Fairy

Sometimes I get annoyed. It doesn't take a lot to annoy me, but it takes a lot to get me to tell you about it. I'm kind of a roll-with-the-punches kind of girl. But let me tell you, I'm getting really close to throwing out some punches with the current dish situation. Yes, the dish situation. Didn't you just feel a tingle of dread run down your spine? I know I did. Here's the thing. I think my roommates think there's a dish fairy that magically comes and does the dishes and leaves them all sparkling clean so they can have clean pots for their Pasta Roni and clean bowls for their Special K. I am not kidding. I swear. It's like when there's no dishes because I don't have time and I'm sick of doing them all week, they're like, "What? We have no bowls!!!", and I'm like "no DUH". And then when they do do the dishes (once every month or so), they're like "I did the dishes! Now we have clean ones!" like they...

Katelyn Goes to a YSA Dance

Here it goes people. You get to hear about my awesome New Year's Eve. I just can't wait to tell you all about it...Ha. Ha. Ha. If you have something more interesting to do, like watching paint dry, then be my guest. I won't be offended. Really. ... Oh good, you're still here. Actually, it's not that bad, compared to some other ones I've had. I feel like the older I get, the lamer holidays like New Year's Eve become. Since I'm a college student, all my friends disappear after Finals Week and magically appear when the term starts, which basically leaves me with nothing to do. It's a good thing that my best friend lives close by, so I don't feel so much like a loser. This year, we got invited to a local YSA dance, so we decided to drop in. Okay. You've all been there. You walk in. Simultaneously, you're hit with every variety of Axe ever made, as well as the entire Bath and Body Works collection. Now add those together with an overw...

How Katelyn spends Christmas break.

Christmas Break is an amazing time, probably my favorite of the entire year. I get to bum around at home, make treats and eat food that I didn't have to buy/make, wrap presents, hang out with my sisters, and just relax. There are a few things, however, that Christmas Break is incomplete without (at least at our house...) Hallmark/Lifetime movies. My sister loves Hallmark. And by "loves" I mean "can't live without them and if you delete one that she's DVR'd without telling her you've single-handedly ruined Christmas".  Peanut brittle. Every year since I can remember, my mom has been making peanut brittle. I don't think it's ever been one of my favorite things, but it's fun to see it every year.  Christmas books. We have a whole container of Christmas books that we get out in December for us to read throughout the month. Every year after Christmas when they all go on sale we get a few new ones, and so every year there's some ne...

What is this?

...Well, friends,  all your wildest dreams have come true. Katelyn has started a blog. That's right. Um...I'm not really sure what this blog is, so let me tell you what it isn't: A blog about cooking: Yeah. Cooking is great. I love people that do it. I'm not going to be posting all my "latest and greatest!" recipes on here, so don't worry about that. My boyfriend. Sample: "Well, blog readers, here I am alone on another Friday night...wishing I wasn't...blah blah blah" Yeah...no. Pathetic has never really been my style. Full of complaints (linked to above point): "Yeah, my dog just died and I just failed all of my classes and my computer just exploded and I'm out of Honey Nut Cheerios and my roommate threw away my string cheese and I tripped and broke both my legs and I'm out of shampoo and I cut myself shaving my legs and ... and the world should know how terrible my life is!" *sigh* Don't you hate those people? ...
