A Random Recipe and Gilmore Girls!

Image
So it's Thursday, friends. Not much happens on a Thursday. Not much happens any other day of the week, either. But Thursdays are just... lame days. That's all. Updates on my life, you ask? Well, me and C tried making this pesto pasta thing yesterday and it turned out really well! Try it!  Click here to see the recipe!  We had french bread and salad and nectarines with it and it was awesome. Sometimes I can cook, but only sometimes. Last week I accidentally left a burner on and melted a spatula to the pan. But hey, it came off pretty easily. But now we need a new spatula :( I'm much more of a baker than a chef. Like for instance, I'm going to try and make cinnamon rolls this weekend! Go me! We'll see how they turn out. I hope they taste okay :S So other than my cooking exploits, what else has happened? I've burned through seasons one and two of Arrow on CW, that was a fun couple weeks. I'm now trying to get into Once Upon a Time (for the third time...) so

Katelyn Works and Wins T-Shirts

So I work in an office now, which is great because it's usually pretty quiet and boring. Especially right now, because everyone else is in staff meeting and somebody has to be left behind to "answer the phones". Funny story, the only person that has called today was looking to make an appointment with their dentist. Here's the deal, people. I work in a business office. We have nothing to do with dentistry. Why she would call me I have no idea. Plus then I was like "I think you have the wrong number, I can try to transfer you to someone who can help," and she just like... kept talking. Lady. It doesn't matter how many times you say the words "I need to make an dental appointment," it doesn't matter IF YOU'RE NOT TALKING TO YOUR DENTIST. *sigh* Me while talking to aforementioned person... "WHATTTT" So that happened. But other than that, not much has gone on. It's funny because those who know me know I draw comics all t

Katelyn Goes Back to 5th Grade

So little fifth-grade P calls me up the other day, and this is what went down: P: Katelyn? Me: Yep, it's me. What's up? P: Um... Well, can you be my special guest for "Bring a Friend to School Day" at my school? Me: Sure! That'd be awesome! P: Grandma's out of town or I would ask her. Me: ... But it's okay! I was still excited to get to see P (and my mom) in their working environments. I remember when my mom would come to my classroom in elementary school and volunteer to read with groups or whatever, and it was always awesome. So I show up to Bring a Friend to School day super excited, like yeah! I remember elementary school! It was super easy! Woo! First we had an assembly where they all sang songs and we cheered for them, and then we went and met them in their classrooms and they showed us around and we ate cookies. Here's a few conversation snapshots of that day: Me: Hey Mom, how's it going? Mom: Other teacher is gone, basically i

Guide to Being a Band Wife

Image
So when I found out C was in the marching band, I was like "meh, whatever... I mean, I know they march around on the field during halftime and no one watches...and that's it..." But once I started dating him, I got an exclusive insider look into the world of marching band, and now I'm going to share that fascinating world with you, per R's request! Yay! You lucky people, you! And to make it even more interesting, I'll sprinkle pictures of Gus throughout! Okay, so the first thing you should know about band is that it's not just a hobby or extracurricular. It's a lifestyle to the band people (bandies, I call them), and they don't understand why the rest of us didn't "do band". Be careful when these conversations occur. Explain why you didn't using a phrase like "didn't have time", as opposed to a face like Gus's below and a phrase like "because band is for nerds?" Come on, son. You may feel o
