2016 Year in Recap
Are you READY to recap 2016??? Cue mood music! Dance along if you feel so inclined.
January
We attempted to keep another beta as a pet - Jeffrey. Unfortunately that didn't work out and Jeffrey swam up to the big fishtank in the sky. I went back to work at my meh job. I read a lot more and reviewed for the CBMR. C started his new semester. (To be honest, not that much happened.)
February
We got a teeny baby fish and raised him as best as we could. It was an oddly warm February, and that was awesome. My obsession with Sing It On began (go Nor'easters!) I got a LinkedIn account (that I never use...) We started inviting the missionaries over for dinner. R got into BYU!
March
I kept crafting. I read Go Set a Watchman and had lots of feelings about it. We attempted to socialize with the ward members more. I was told to "watch out for crayfish" in the employee parking lot. My college got Spring Break, but I had to come to work anyway. I discovered Eisenhower Public Library and spent loooooots of time there. The idea to start crocheting baby booties entered my head and I made my first (awful) attempt. Me and C became enamored with Suits (we're back January 25th, people!)
April
Me and C attempted to sing the Messiah with MoTab, and didn't fail *too* spectacularly. C finished his second semester and moved onto his third. We fed the missionaries lots. We got to watch General Conference! I finally crocheted a baby bootie I actually felt good about giving someone. We went to our first Cubs game. The stupid work luncheon was finally over!
May
We traveled back home to see R graduate from high school! N went through the temple. P got the Hope of America award from her school. My school started its four-day workweek, which was nice.
June
We celebrated our two-year wedding anniversary, and C's birthday. We started going to see the Park Ridge City Orchestra in the park, one of our favorite cheap date nights. I went to 4000 baby showers and made baby booties for all of them.
July
We got visited by C's friend K and celebrated the Fourth of July with him. We were also visited by my sisters N&R. We went to all the awesome museums. We went to my first White Sox game. I got inducted into the Jane Austen Movie Night society of the Chicago 1st Ward (we never did meet again after that, sadly...) Our AC decided to suck. C started interning for the City of Chicago. N graduated from college.
August
All my friends had their babies. We got stuck participating in the ward "talent" show. We hit up another White Sox game. Our AC continued to suck. We watched the Olympics. We learned how to make soft pretzels from scratch. I had to go back to work five days a week.
September
We went to another Cubs game, and being in that environment so close to the playoffs was unreal. We went to an AF High football game out in Hinsdale. C started his second year of grad school.
October
We planned the ward Halloween party, and that was not fun. Work got kind of stressful, and then evened out again. It FINALLY got to be the perfect temperature (hello, cardigans!)
November
The Cubs won the World Series! C took me to a cake-decorating class for my birthday. We actually had someone invite us over for Thanksgiving this year. I made friends with the coolest sister missionary ever. I was excited for the Gilmore Girls revival, and then I watched it, and it was terrible. C finished his semester. My good friend in the ward had her baby on my birthday :) Birthday twin!!!
December
Amazingly, made it through the last few weeks of work and then left for Christmas in Utah! Got to see my mom, my dad, and all my sisters again. <3 Finished crocheting all my snowflakes, and those were beautiful this year. Watched tons of Hallmark and ate tons of peppermint bark and candied almonds and pecans. I saw The Christmas Carol like I do every year with my sisters and mom and it was fantastic this year. We went back to our temple :) I got a new phone that doesn't suck!

Also, my friend gave me a Grumpy Cat ornament that I'm pretty sure I'm going to feature in all my blog/Instagram posts now.
For example, Grumpy Cat is unimpressed with her flight delay:
"Planes? I hate them." |
See ya, 2016. I personally don't think you were as bad as everyone made you out to be, but then again, what do I know.
