Sunday Morning...

Image
Sunday afternoon, actually. But this song still applies. Love me some Maroon 5.  Today was good. Went back to church after not being there for two weeks (I'm not a heathen, I was on vacation...) which was fun, I guess. Our ward is smaller than I remembered. Plus now we have church in a building on campus, which is lame because it's the math building, and it just reeks of nerd. Not hating on nerds (I am one, pretty much) but...yeah. Not a fan. I mean, there are lockers in this building. Like we never left high school. *grimace* Oh well. This week promises to be exciting, as THIS GIRL: We're Nerd Herders! (N is the one with glasses...) ...is getting married! So excited! N & K are so cute together! DISCLAIMER: I started this post last Sunday...but now it's Sunday again and I haven't been posting, so...yeah. Instead of starting a new post I just modified the draft I never published. The wedding was yesterday. It was a really great day. N l...

DD & the Daily Grind

Image
Pretty sure the worst part of vacation is going back to your regular life. It's fun the first day back when everyone's like "Hey I missed you!" and you're like "oh, stop it, I know, (meaningless questions about their life, my trip, blah blah blah...) It's been nice to be making money again though, I need it for school. Here's what I'm listening to while I type this: Good stuff. Not much of importance has happened lately. Ooh! Went to the dentist and got a cavity filled without being numbed up. That's right. No injections for me! Now before you start getting all "Wow Katelyn, aren't you masochistic...", it didn't hurt, it was a small cavity, my dentist said it was fine. I hate being numbed up. I will do almost anything to not have people inject things into me. In all seriousness. Last time I went to the dentist the power went out and that was awkward, so this time went a lot better. I still hate dentists though. ...

Vacation Wrap-Up

Image
Well, I got home safe, despite everyone almost killing each other in the car (driving straight from 9 am until 11:30 pm). Whoo. Quite the trip. Ready for the summary: Movies Watched: 5 (Iron Man, Hairspray, Leap Year, Warm Bodies, and Avengers) Episodes Watched: 3 Psychs (Last Night Gus, This Episode Sucks, and The Amazing Psych-Man & Tap Man, Issue #2) Music: Warm Bodies playlist, "Picture Show" by Neon Trees Snacks: Holy cow. Peachy Os, gummy bears, chips, Goldfish, Twizzlers...so many treats... Annoyance Level: moderate to high to extremely high to unbearably high Man, that drive home was rough. But it was really nice to be home in one day instead of spreading it over two, and P did better than expected. Me and R didn't argue about movies, and N did her own thing (i.e., watched the entire sixth season of Psych and season one of Castle...) And we had lots of snacks! Made it bearable. Things I did on this trip for the first time: -Watched a marathon of D...

Day...whatever: The Real Reason For This Trip

Image
Well guys, here we are at the apex of our trip, the reason for our being here - cousin wedding. Tonight we met up for dinner with all the family, and it was all right. At least I wasn't delegated to the loser table. My cousin and her fiance are cute too. They're having their wedding outdoors in their yard, and it's going to be amazing. It was sad to leave Lincoln City today, but the next few days will be a different kind of fun. Here's a few pics of the last couple days: Yaquina Head Lighthouse - tallest functional lighthouse on the West Coast! Beach time!  More wedding fun to come... -K

Day 3: Lincoln City

Image
We made it to Lincoln City!!! And it is gorgeous! The view from our hotel room is amazing - we're so close to the beach! I love it! I'll have to put up some pictures later, but it is gorgeous. I love Oregon. I forgot how much I love it. I just want to move here. I used to live here like...17 years ago...? Something like that. Yeah, it was a long time ago...I hope to move back here one day. High today was mid-70s, perfect weather (for me). Anyone who knows me knows I like things colder rather than hotter. Oregon is perfect. Enough about how much I love Oregon...tomorrow we're headed down to Newport Beach to visit  a few attractions, should be good times all around. Here's today's stats (only drove two hours): Movies Watched: 0.5 (I say a half because I "watched" Iron Man with R, no sound though...it was like Bad Lip Reading, ha!) TV Episodes Watched: 0 Music: Neon Trees, "Warm Bodies" playlist, "Music Inspired by Iron Man 3" Sn...

Day 2: Portland

Image
Well, after seven hours of driving today, we're in Portland! Here's today's stats: Movie Count: 2 (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Robin Hood [Russell Crowe version]) TV Episode Count: 0 Music: My self-created "Warm Bodies" soundtrack...on repeat. Snacks: Animal crackers, Sour Patch Kids Annoyance Level: low-moderate (Mostly due to again, technical difficulties, but today went a little better as soon as we got all our stuff packed up). This is probably my current favorite on my Warm Bodies playlist. Either that, or... Haven't watched the music video, so I have no idea how good this is. But it's an awesome song for just cruising down the freeway. I love freeways! Especially with the windows down...that's one of my favorite things in the world. For sure. Loud music, windows down, driving nowhere in particular. Tomorrow we're headed deeper into Oregon, but not too long of a drive, so that'll be nice. Can't wait until we ...

Day 1: Boise

Image
Well, I'll blog my trip for you guys, since my total views got to 1000 this week! That's awesome, guys! For not advertising my blog on Facebook like everybody and their mom that's quite a lot of hits. Granted, they were mostly from like three different people, but that's okay! 1000 views! So, today we drove about six hours to Boise to stay in my cousin's house while they're gone. It's way nice. Tall ceilings, grand piano, beautiful rooms, beautiful view...I want a house like this one day. I'll put up some pictures soon. Movie count: 2 (Step Up and Miss Congeniality) TV Episode count: 2 (Pilot and episode 2 of Chuck) Snacks consumed: Many, but not limited to pretzels, Goldfish, Sour Patch Kids... Annoyance level: moderate (due mostly to lack of space and our inability to get our DVD players to sync) So all in all, not too terrible a day. Idaho is boring country at the moment. Drove through a storm, that was fun. Oh, and speaking of storms, we h...

Boston & Road Trips

Image
I bet when you saw that you thought Katelyn was road trippin' to Boston, didn't you? Ha. Wrong. I'm road tripping to Oregon to the wonderful sounds of Boston (the band). So feel free to listen to either this: Or this! Yep. Those are the two I'm rocking out to right now. I love Boston, guys. Blame my dad, he got me into Journey and Boston and Kansas and all those great one-word bands. Rock on, Dad. I'm kind of annoyed about this trip actually because my sister texts me and is like "Oh by the way, Mom says not to pack any t-shirts unless they're for driving days, and that includes v-necks" and I'm like WHAT. If it's good enough for work, it's good enough for freaking vacation. Why should I dress better for vacation than for work? Doesn't make any sense at all. Needless to say, many t-shirts and v-necks were packed. >:) We're going for my cousin's wedding (two are getting married this summer). Good thing I absolute...

Independence Day & 30.06s

Image
Guys. I love America. And since I've been sitting here watching "America: The Story of Us" on the History Channel, I love it even more. Want to learn some cool facts? Okay.  General George Washington inoculated his soldiers with smallpox to try and slow the outbreak. Awesome!!! Everyone that built the Erie Canal was essentially drunk the whole time. Whaaaaaa... Abraham Lincoln took care of his dying mother when he was just eight years old. In 1874 locusts ate half of all the crops planted in the West. The swarm was as allegedly as big as Colorado, so many that they blocked out the sun. Rather unpleasant. But within 30 years they went extinct! YESSSSSSS Guns used on the Union side of the Civil War could shoot almost twice as far as current sniper rifles used today.  Me shooting a 30.06 - not the guns used then, but I wanted a reason to post this... Well, we've only gotten to westward expansion, so we'll see how many more random facts I can learn. ...
