Throwback Thursday

Image
Since everyone's into these "Throwback Thursday" things, have old picture! Well, two old pictures. Baby C! Baby me!  These are both of our first-grade pictures. Aren't we precious? Look at us, so ready to learn! I actually skipped kindergarten, so in theory this is my kindergarten picture instead of my first-grade one, but whatever. I just love C's little excited face, almost like he's saying "I can't wait to learn all the things!!!" So cute. Me, you can tell I'm more reserved, more of a "Please teach me all the things, that would be great, thanks."  So is that all there is to Throwback Thursday? Kind of meh if you ask me. Oh well. Hope you enjoyed these random pics I took out of our wedding slideshow...? -K

Drive-Through

Image
Well, C graduated! I am so proud of that boy. It was fun to see both our families together again and frankly, to go to a graduation that wasn't as long as mine was. Mine took forever, and compared to that C's was a walk in the park. I don't have a ton of pictures on me at the moment, but here's a cute one with P: With graduation comes big questions about the future. We've made gigantic pros and cons list of schools that have accepted him and are going to visit them next week, so that should be fun. Hopefully? Coming from the girl that's never been father east than Billings it should be at the very least a new and exciting informational vacation. Somewhat of a gradation present for C, I guess. He's on thank-you card duty after all the graduation cards he's gotten, lucky guy. And I'm kind of freaking out since I haven't been on a plane in like five million years and I can't remember anything about airports or flying. I'm weird. It'...

52 Newbs

Image
Well, since I got a jump of 52 views yesterday, um, hi, new people. Hope you like what you read. If not, I guess just click away to something better. But let's be real, people. What's better than reading my random blog? Nothing! Well, except this: And this:  And this:  You know what? Fine. There are lot of things better than this blog. But not too many! (But come on, that pic of Nathan Fillion? Freaking adorable. Plus, Castle was nice Monday night in that most of my questions were answered, and I am no longer terribly annoyed that he missed his wedding day and ran away for two months. Yay!) Well, in personal news, last Thursday was the annual Hope of America, and this year P got to be in it! She got to be a red shirt, or a stripe on the flag. Much better than being a yellow perimeter shirt. Although a couple of years ago my mom's class got to wear the yellow shirts and sit on the floor, and that was pretty cool. You know what's even cool...

125

Image
Guys. This is my 125th post. I have typed 125 posts over the course of five years! 125 times I've put my random thoughts down on virtual paper and sent it out for the world to read. Pretty intimidating thought. Maybe by the end of this year I'll hit 150, that would be exciting. High five! Also, today's posts will have only Castle gifs, since it's coming back next Monday and I am so excited! Also, it's the only show I've consistently liked over the course of this blog, I think. The only one that could compare would be my liking of SYTYCD, but now they have new "judges" that know nothing I'm debating even watching this upcoming season. I mean, how good could Jason Derulo possibly be at judging ballroom dance? I've got a little message for him: Or better yet, quit and bring Mary Murphy back. Hot Tamale Train forever!  In other news, it's tax day. The day your taxes are due. And guess who works in the office where EVERYONE call...

Spring Birthdays

Image
I was always jealous of the people that had their birthdays in the spring/summer, when there were no other holidays around you had to share with. My birthday being in the week of Thanksgiving, or sometimes on Thanksgiving itself was never fun as a child (or frankly, as an adult.) I'm not the biggest turkey fan, pies are only okay, I hate stuffing and cranberries. The only part of Thanksgiving I really get excited for is the yams with marshmallows on them. Now those are good! Thankfully, my parents were usually pretty good at having a separate celebration that didn't involve unsatisfactory Thanksgiving foods, but when it was on Thanksgiving and my little kid self felt that no one cared about her and only cared about Thanksgiving, things got rough. Thankfully I matured... or did I? Anyway, the point is, spring birthdays are probably cool. And the coolest kid I know is having a birthday! Yes, that's a 30-gallon bag full of popcorn. Call up Water Gardens the day before...

Spring Break, Day 2

Image
Well, day 2 on the lonely planet, aka a university on Spring Break. Although upon further research, turns out I do get a Spring Break! Of one day! But hey, it's a break nonetheless! And to be completely honest, I kind of wish I didn't have it. I'd rather have the cash than a day off. I mean, what am I going to do? C has school all day, guess I'll crochet a freaking blanket or something. I already made cinnamon rolls this month. Maybe I'll try my hand at archery or something. Got to get some new hobbies. Also, in the never-ending saga of tax problems, had a tax preparer call today and tell me I was going to be responsible if the university got fined for sending out incorrect 1098-Ts. Bro. Broooooo. I am not in charge. I am merely the puppet that answers the phones. And if I'm lucky, have some downtime to eat a Pop-Tart. But if somebody wants my help with one more stupid tax thing... In other news, yesterday I built a bookshelf and a table. That's right...

Better than Usual Weekend

Image
This is where I would put up exciting plans about Spring Break... IF I HAD ONE. *sigh* Even though I work at a university, even when they're on Spring Break, we still have to come in and do nothing. Except me, because I get to answer perturbed parent's phone calls when they finally realize taxes are due soon and they don't know how to read the 1098-T for their son/daughter who's conveniently on a mission. Unfortunately, due to FERPA laws, we can't help them at all. People, do yourselves a favor. When you go on a mission to a remote African village for two years, PLEASE leave your ID and sign-in information with your parents. For every account you own. It's just common sense. *gets off soapbox* Anyway, I guess if I had a spring break I wouldn't get a week's pay, which would be highly detrimental. Guess I should be grateful for my job. I'm also incredibly grateful for Easter, and Easter candy, and conference time. It was a great weekend. It sta...

K Makes Scones

Image
So, I made scones yesterday. They were awesome. They have strawberries and white chocolate and they are heavenly. Surprisingly, I have become a somewhat good baker! Ever since the great cookie debacle of a couple months ago, everything's been going pretty well since then in the kitchen department. Granted, these scones needed wayyyy more flour than was called for, but they ended up being awesome. Definitely a good way to use up strawberries. Now that I've bored you all with my wifey scone talents, we can talk about something more interesting. I'm just eating one of them right now and enjoying it immensely. Not much is new is going on with us. Mostly just school and work. April promises to be a fun month, as one of my best roommates ever is getting married and we get to go to the sealing! Yay! This is the best picture of us that was ever taken: She really likes cats. She isn't a cat, as this picture might imply, but she's still fantastic. In other news, I al...

P and the Amazing Sparkly Egyptian Costume

Image
Well friends, the time has come. P's acting career has commenced! And it commenced with a bang, that's for sure. Despite having songs from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat stuck in my head every single second (I did see the play four times after all...) it was a fun weekend of play-seeing. It was so interesting to see the difference from the first night to the last night. The first one everyone was kind of nervous and timid, but by the last night they looked like they were having the time of their lives up there. It was completely adorable. And while I'm not completely in love with the movie version (Donny Osmond in a glorified diaper, anyone?) the live play version was so much better. Or maybe it's just more fun when someone you know is in it. Either way, much better than the movie, and P is adorable. Period.  I mean, is the loincloth/diaper really necessary? Can he not just wear tattered overalls like the kid in the play did?  Her costumes ended up l...
